This is an excerpt from page 11 in the 2016-2017 Bulloch County Schools annual report:
“Statesboro High School offers Carpentry, Masonry, Electrical and Plumbing career pathways for Bulloch County students. These are four of the 11 pathways within the GaDOE’s Architecture & Construction Career Pathway Cluster.
Area contractors are partnering with these career pathways and their teacher and SkillsUSA advisor, Matthew White, to help bolster the program and build local skill capacity for an industry experiencing major labor shortages. The Sack Company, Choate Construction, Mock Plumbing, Gold Merch, BAK Builders, R.W. Allen, LLC, Elkins General Contractors, and the Area General Contractors (AGC) Foundation are a few of the area industry leaders whose professionals are investing time and resources to support students.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics the job growth for HVAC employees, plumbers, pipefitters, steamfitters, and electricians is expected to be 12-14 percent, and their corresponding median annual salaries are above $50,000.
The Sack Company, headquartered in Bulloch County and the Southeast’s largest commercial and industrial contractor for mechanical, electrical and plumbing operations, concurs with this information.”
