Estimators are to prepare cost estimates by analyzing proposals, budgets, and requirements.

Reports to: Director of Estimating, Estimating Manager

Duties & Responsibilities

The Estimator is to prepare estimates by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documentation. The Estimator utilizes computer based estimating tools to complete hard bid estimates for proposal. The Estimator identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposal documentation. The Estimator resolves discrepancies in proposal documents by maintaining communication with stakeholders. The Estimator maintains positive relationships with stakeholders and vendors. The Estimator collaborates with Business Development team members to develop active and future project leads. The Estimator is to participate in project hand-off meetings in conjunction with Preconstruction and Field Operations to start up project construction activities for awarded bids. The Estimator may be assigned other duties as required.

Qualifications

The Estimator must have knowledge of estimating, construction methods, resource management, trade coordination, and strategic planning of construction work. The Estimator must have knowledge of estimating software, including Trimble MEP. The Estimator must be able to read, comprehend, interpret, and communicate information obtained from blueprints, models, and specifications. The Estimator must be current on the latest codes associated with their assigned trade. The Estimator must be able to work under deadlines and within a rapidly changing priority system. The Estimator should possess strong attention to detail, problem solving, and organizational skills. The Estimator must be able to work productively as an individual contributor and in a collaborative team environment.

Working Conditions

The Estimator must be willing and able to travel to assigned bid meetings and job walk locations. The Estimator must be able and willing to work for extended periods while sitting and typing at a computer station.
